In 2004, Steuben
Glass introduced the Ted Muehling Collection consisting
of many Tortoise Shell designs. The two largest and most
spectacular pieces were the 12 1/4" and 16"D. Tortoise
Shell Bowls pictured above. Although the remainder of
the collection (barware, decanter, smaller bowls, etc.)
was produced until the end, the magnificent #0565 16"D.
Giant Tortoise Shell was only available for a few years
at $15K plus tax and delivery--making it extremely rare.
This is the only one I have ever seen. Properly signed
and in excellent condition--always a major issue in the
marketplace. |
