Designed and
produced in 1974, the extremely rare and spectacular The
Thousand and One Nights was limited to an edition of
only five. It is described as a Persian palace of
crystal containing a fantasia of figures from the
Arabian Nights Entertainments. The Isfahan dome is
surrounded by six arched prisms held in a frame of
silver. Three prisms depict Scheherazade dancing as she
spins the tales by which she saved her life; the other
three depict characters from her tales. Shown is Prince
Houssain riding his flying carpet, the turbaned, bearded
Sultan of Harran stands with sheathed scimitar and a
round-bellied Genie with a flame springing from his bald
head. This extraordinary exhibition piece is 11" high,
7" wide and 6 1/2" deep and is in excellent condition
with the original red leather case. The strike price in
1974 was $31500. |
